    Cold Weather Shelter

Cold Weather Shelter (CWS) is a temporary shelter program that offers overnight accommodations for homeless men and women at locations throughout Howard County, Maryland. The shelter is provided by various faith organizations including New Hope Church on a weekly rotational basis during the  Winter Season of November to March. CWS has been based on the Isaiah 58:7 passage: “provide shelter to the poor homeless and feed them”.

In addition to bringing guests in from cold winter nights, CWS, through the Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center, has referred guests to drug rehabilitation, medical attention, job placement, and more permanent shelter. The primary objective benefits the homeless.

Volunteers at New Hope's Cold Weather Shelter are provided the opportunity to utilize their gift of hospitality. This objective benefits children and adults as they combine Biblical instruction with hands on experience in preparing and serving meals, preparing and serving bag lunches, and participating in “parlor games” and conversation.
